West Ham are in the hunt to sign Cavalier SC winger Alex Marshall, according to TEAMtalk.

The football outlet claim that the Hammers alongside Liverpool, Tottenham, Leicester City and Aston Villa have watched the 20-year-old play for the Jamaican club in recent times ahead of potentially making a move for.

TEAMtalk report that Marshall has a very similar playing style to Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling and that he has been labelled the new version of the 23-year-old Premier League star.

OPINION

TEAMtalk shared that Marshall has a decent goalscoring record while playing in Jamaica’s top-flight but it’s questionable how hard that division is. However it is promising that the 20-year-old has been compared to Sterling as that is exactly the type of player Manuel Pellegrini would love at the London Stadium. Sterling, who earns £180,000-a-week at Man City (Source: Spotrac), is a winger who is capable of bursting down the flank and contributing goals so if Marshall can do that, then the Hammers would be wise to snap him up. Yet given that Marshall has never played in Europe then it would be risky to invest heavily in getting his services. The London club may need to splash a little bit of cash to lure him to them as it seems there are several big English clubs sniffing around his services. It’ll be interesting to see if this story develops as there must be a reason why several English teams have been linked to a winger who has never played senior football outside of Jamaica.
