Moyes living in dreamland

OPINION

It is safe to say that David Moyes did not enjoy the greatest of times at West Ham United, and there is no doubt that the fans will echo that too.

The Hammers did not enjoy the greatest of successes under their former manager, who was only able to help them secure Premier League survival by the skin of their teeth.

Sacking Moyes is one of the greatest decisions that the West Ham board have ever made, especially when you look at how new boss Manuel Pellegrini has turned things around.

However, Moyes has completely embarrassed himself with his latest comments about his exit at the club, which were completely irrelevant.

“I don’t think we could have done any more than we did. We weren’t interested in talking about my future until we knew we had got them safe,” he said, as quoted by the Telegraph.

“David Sullivan was ok with that and that is what we agreed. But when we came to speak in the summer, it was clear they wanted to go with someone else. Look, that’s fine, whether we would have taken the job if it was offered, is another matter.”

If we are going to be completely honest here, Moyes is in no position to say that he may not have accepted a new deal at the London Stadium – after all, it is not like he made much of an impact.

He is clearly living in dreamland with these remarks – how highly does he actually think of himself?

There was no chance that he would have been kept on anyway, but these comments will surely leave supporters absolutely astonished.

He has a real audacity to come out and make remarks like that – and the fans will be counting their lucky stars that they now have Pellegrini in charge rather than a man who likes to spout nonsense.

It is easy to see why he has not been able to land himself another managerial position at another club, especially if he goes about making such bizarre comments.
