West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini has an ever-growing injury list, with the midfield taking the worst hit of all.

Jack Wilshere suffered a setback in his ankle injury – and is due to return to training in around two weeks, as revealed by insider ExWHUemployee.

Summer recruit Carlos Sanchez has been sidelined, and Pedro Obiang missed the latest game with Tottenham as well.

This is means that Pellegrini will have to resort to a player from the under-23s to ease his midfield woes – and that player must be Moses Makasi.

The 23-year-old ace played for 60 minutes in the Irons’ youth side on Sunday, returning from knee injury that saw him sidelined for half a year – and he thoroughly impressed during the victory.

This is why Pellegrini must hand the young ace a chance to shine in the coming weeks, as he may just be the answer to the team’s current crisis in the middle of the park.

Makasi, who will likely have been forgotten by fans after his layoff, was the standout player by a wide margin with his confident and assured display, and his ability to skip past players and dominate in the centre of the midfield definitely makes a good case for his debut in West Ham’s first team.

Wilshere is hardly going to be at his best once he eventually returns to training, so giving Makasi a shot must be under careful consideration by Pellegrini.

After all, Pellegrini has not been afraid to hand responsibilty over to the younger players – take a look at the rise of Declan Rice for instance – so there is no reason why Makasi cannot replicate the success of players that have been in his shoes before.

The Chilean manager needs to continue his reputation for giving younger players a chance, and to be honest, there is no better time to introduce Makasi than right now.

If Makasi maintains his current form, then there is no doubt that Pellegrini will come knocking rather soon.
