West Ham signing Jordan Hugill is the gift that keeps on giving as he is struggling to deliver the goods while on loan at Middlesbrough this season.

The 26-year-old, who is currently on loan with Boro, has played six times for them in the league and is yet to bag his first goal for the club.

However Hugill isn’t making up for his lack of goals by having a positive impact in any other way despite him clearly trying his best to succeed.

The forward was woeful during Tony Pulis side’s clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday and it was no surprise that he was subbed off at the 60 minute mark.

Hugill may have won his aerial duels but that’s about it as he spent the majority of his time on the floor and just looked helpless when it came to stopping his side losing 2-0 to Forest.

The on-loan attacker doesn’t look able to be the attacking force Boro need him to be in the Championship and all of his appearances so far tell a similar disappointing tale.

Given that the Hammers signed Hugill in January from Preston North End for £10million (Source: BBC Sport) and then proceeded to play him for just 22 minutes before shipping him off on loan in the summer, then it is clear the Premier League club made blunder signing him.

However with the forward even struggling to impress in the Championship then the Hammers’ January blunder becomes even more laughable every time Hugill takes to the field.

As it’s clear that he is nowhere worth the amount the Hammers paid for him nor was never likely to succeed in England’s top division as he simply isn’t good enough.

It’s funny that someone at the Hammers clearly believed it was a good decision to invest a chunky amount of money into the 26-year-old as time goes by it’s clear that they were very mistaken.

Hopefully for at least the sake of Hugill, the laughter is able to stop soon and he actually proves himself to be useful to Boro otherwise you wonder whether the Hammers will be stuck with him on their books until his contract expires in 2022.
