West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere is due to return to training in around two weeks’ time, according to a club insider.

Hammers in the know (ITK) ExWHUemployee – who is a well-known source of news on the Irons – has revealed via their personal Twitter account on Monday (22 October) that the summer recruit could return to the training ground in two weeks or so after another setback to his current ankle injury, meaning he will not be joining the rest of the team until November.

Wilshere was due to return a lot earlier –  but suffered a setback in his recovery, as reported by Football London journalist Sam Inkersole via Twitter, but this latest news will be positive for the Hammers.

OPINION

Pellegrini will be rather delighted with the fact that Wilshere is returning to training soon, as it will give him the depth needed in midfield after Carlos Sanchez was sidelined. However, whether the West Ham fans will welcome him back with open arms is another question. He did not have the best start to life at the club after suffering back-to-back defeats with the team, and it is surely no coincidence that they started playing better once he was ruled out for a time. Mark Noble works a lot better without Wilshere there, so it is not likely that the supporters will want him back in the side. The team have steadily progressed in his absence, and that may be something that he will have to learn to accept. There is no denying that he has the talent – he just has to prove that he is still capable of playing at a reasonably high level.
