Some West Ham fans lapped up the idea that their club could swoop for Chelsea attacker Alvaro Morata after a report claimed he could be facing an exit from Stamford Bridge.

Transfer Market Web reported on Monday that the 25-year-old Premier League forward might be loaned out in January after leaving manager Maurizio Sarri  unimpressed by how he started the season.

The website claimed that the Hammers, along with Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan, may all be tempted to reignite their pursuit of Morata as all of those clubs were keen on the Blues player in the summer.

While their club were only indirectly linked to him, a section of Hammers fans shared they’d support a January swoop for the player as one claimed that Manuel Pellegrini could work his magic on it.

OPINION

It seems after getting one win in the bag, there’s at least one Hammers supporter who thinks Pellegrini has a magic touch when it comes to fixing struggling players. Morata has failed to impress at the Blues following his high-profile move from Real Madrid so it’s no surprise that a report is linking him with an exit. The 25-year-old has scored one goal in four appearances this season and was far from prolific in his 2017/18 campaign. Yet he could be a good signing for the Hammers, depending on the price or how much of his wage the club would need to cover if they borrowed him, as ahead of his move to Chelsea he looked like quality player. The only issue is that recruiting Morata could prove to be at least a bit of a risk as he hasn’t exactly excelled in the Premier League. If this move does end up developing and goes ahead then it seems that the Blues player will receive a warm welcome upon arriving at the London Stadium.
