Some Manchester United fans on social media destroyed Chris Smalling after his performance during the 3-1 loss to West Ham on Saturday.
The 28-year-old centre-back played the full game at the London Stadium and a section of Man United supporters were fuming with what they witnessed from the defender.
One fan tweeted during their side’s recent loss to dub him very average at best while another referred to him as deadwood when rounding off the players who have proven themselves to be good enough.

OPINION
Smalling should be packing his bags based on this section of Man United supporters and it’s hard to disagree with them as he was awful against the Hammers. The defender was constantly exposed and caught out of position which allowed the Hammers’ attackers to have a field day and have everything their own way. Smalling had fans clambering for his exit and it’s hard to see how they won’t get their wish if he continues to perform like that as it wasn’t good enough for a Premier League team let alone one of Man United’s stature. As one fan tweeted to share while expressing their desire for their club to hire Zinedine Zidane, if Jose Mourinho goes then the next manager will surely be aiming to chuck Smalling straight out the door. While some may hope that the centre-back just had a bad day at the office against the Hammers, his performance was to the same standard he usually submits in a Man United shirt.
