West Ham United talisman Marko Arnautovic is back in training and is hoping to be available for Saturday’s game against Manchester United, according to ExWHUemployee.

The respected Hammers insider issued the update on his personal twitter account, reassuring supporters that there is a chance the Austrian will make his return at the London Stadium.

Arnautovic, on a reported £100,000-per-week [Source: Spotrac], suffered an injury after scoring in the 3-1 win over Everton recently, and missed Sunday’s goalless draw with Chelsea as a result.

The 29-year-old has been manager Manuel Pellegrini’s key man in East London so far this season, scoring three goals in five games this term.

OPINION

It’s terrific news for Hammers fans that Arnautovic could be back against United. He’s been such a vital player for the club since joining from Stoke City just over a year ago, and that has been shown at the start of this season with some terrific displays. The difference up front against Chelsea was clear to see, as Michail Antonio toiled without success against the Blues backline. The Austria international is arguably the most talented player in the West Ham squad, so to potentially have him back for such a big game is a massive boost for Pellegrini. With United on the horizon it’s no wonder that the Chilean is making plenty of changes to his line up against Macclesfield Town on Wednesday, and it will be interesting to see if Lucas Perez, for example, can make a claim to replace Arnautovic up front if the 29-year-old isn’t fit to face United. However, Hammers supporters will be hoping that isn’t the case.
