West Ham United’s problems do not seem to be improving after they suffered a 2-1 defeat to the hands of Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon – and they could be about to send one man who could save their early season out on loan.

The displays of the midfield arguably contributed to a second consecutive loss on the bounce, and this area is one which boss Manuel Pellegrini must address sooner rather than later.

That solution may come in the form of midfielder Josh Cullen – but Pellegrini must a block a move which could allow him to leave on loan, after club insider Claret and Hugh reported that a number of offers from Championship clubs have been tabled for his services.

The Chilean must not allow this to happen, otherwise his midfield will be hugely exposed for the rest of the season, especially if Mark Noble is dropped and Jack Wilshere sustains an injury.

The duo have hardly had the best of showings so far, and it will prove to be a massive mistake if Pellegrini allowed the 22-year-old depart in the midst of their problems.

Cullen established himself as a first-team regular in the second half of last season under former boss David Moyes, and he can do so again under the new boss.

Pellegrini will be doing himself a huge favour by keeping the enforcer on the books, as he will certainly live to regret it if he ends up making the step down to the second tier.

Any attempts made by clubs from the Championship to sign the ace must be knocked back – after all, it is not like he is a stranger to the Premier League.

His presence will be greatly appreciated if he was to stay at the London Stadium, and if he gets his head down and focuses on his game, he will impress Pellegrini in no time.

The manager now has the chance to address the lack of pace in his midfield and make a decision that he will reap the benefits of over the course of the season.
