Some West Ham fans were unhappy after a trusted club insider stated that it was not unlikely that Joao Mario would join the club this summer.
ExWHUemployee who is an excellent source of Hammers information shared via their Twitter account that despite the Hammers attempting to bring the 25-year-old midfielder back to the London Stadium, it now didn’t look like happening.
This update about the Hammers’ approaches for Mario not seemingly working caused fans of the London club to share their disappointment over looking unlikely to get Mario.
ExWHUemployee previously reported on July 25 that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were trying to secure a loan move for the Portugal international.

Forever West Ham have rounded up a handful of tweets about the insider’s update on Mario:
January is a very hard time to join. Especially a relegation battling team in the premier league. Would have looked much better with a proper ore season wth us and surrounded with better players imo. Have to give people time. I'm disappointed he isn't given another chance

Think this year he will be around better players by & large so should be more suited to his style, I personally would like him back but get why some aren’t keen as he wasn’t great at first while adjusting to epl

OPINION
Mario did putting in some dazzling displays during his 14 outings for the Hammers last season when on loan and it’s a shame that the club are unlikely to see him feature for the club again in the upcoming season. The 25-year-old would have done better in his 2018/19 campaign just like one fan suggested when reading the update on him as Pellegrini’s squad now featured players who would compliment Mario’s playing style. However clearly the experienced manager thought it was better to recruit other players ahead of Mario as at the start of the summer, the player’s £25million price, as reported by The Sun, would have made it easy to get a deal done.
