Some West Ham fans on social media were thrilled that former defender James Collins had visited the club’s training ground just to catch up with the team.
The ex-Hammers star was reported as visiting training by reliable club insider ExWHUemployee on Twitter and this caused several fans to be happy.

One fan tweeted to ask somewhat hopefully whether the club had signed him up for Saturday’s clash against Bournemouth while another shared that they wished he was still involved with the club and was confused why no other side had snapped him up on a free transfer.
Forever West Ham has rounded up the best tweets about Collins’ visit below:

OPINION
Collins will always be welcomed back at the Hammers and several fans loved the idea that he simply popped in to say hello. Even if one supporter was oddly suspicious as he thought it was unusual for someone to return to their old stomping ground just to check-in. Yet that was probably all that was happening and it’s easy to believe that player of Collins’ character just wanted to see some familiar faces and wish Pellegrini’s side all the best for the season. The experienced centre-back left the club earlier in the summer when his contract wasn’t renewed and it is a shame he isn’t still a part of Pellegrini’s squad. This is because of his experience and character rather than his ability as his performances last season weren’t up to the standard they needed to be for him to aid the team any longer in the Premier League. Hopefully Collins, for his sake, finds a new club shortly as he deserves to have more success in his career.
