Insider: West Ham to make multiple changes v AFC Wimbledon

|

West Ham are to make several changes to the team that faced Arsenal on Saturday for the clash against AFC Wimbledon with Manuel Pellegrini handing a few players their first starts of the 2018/19 season, according to a club insider.

Hammers insider ExWHUemployee on Twitter shared that every player who starts Tuesday night’s League Cup clash against The Wombles will be a senior player and that it will be a very strong as well as exciting team that is fielded.

The well informed insider stated they couldn’t specify how many changes would be made as it would make it too easy to work out the starting line-up.

OPINION

It seems Pellegrini is fielding a strong team in order to protect his side from suffering an upset in the cup. AFC Wimbledon, who play their football in League One, will be aiming to inflict misery on the Hammers this season but their job will made difficult if the insider is right about Pellegrini fielding a strong team. The Hammers should have more than enough quality in their ranks in order to overpower their lower-ranked opposition in order to progress to the next round of the EFL cup. Hopefully one of the players getting their first start of the season is winger Andriy Yarmolenko. The 28-year-old, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, has featured in all of the Hammers’ three league games of the season so far but all his appearances have been made after coming off the bench. Yarmolenko has shown glimpses of his ability and it would be good to see him get 90 minutes against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night.
