Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash with Wimbledon is not going to feature West Ham United striker Marko Arnautovic after he was sidelined with an injury in the weekend’s defeat to Arsenal, according to a club insider.

ExWHUemployee – who is a reliable source of Hammers’ news – revealed on their personal Twitter account that the 6’3″ [Transfermarkt] colossus is also a doubt for this weekend’s match against Wolves, but that he would still be tested during the week.

The 29-year-old netted the Irons’ only goal in their recent 3-1 loss to the Gunners, but went off in the 59th minute after picking up an injury at the Emirates, being replaced by Javier Hernandez.

OPINION

West Ham’s Arnautovic has been of their stand out players over the course of the last three matches, so the fact that he could potentially be out of this weekend’s clash with Wolves would have undoubtedly been a major blow for boss Manuel Pellegrini. He desperately needs to register some points on the board after three losses on the bounce, and the fact that he could possibly not feature will definitely be missed. In the little attacking threat that West Ham have provided, Arnautovic has been one of the highlights, but the team will have to learn to cope without him during this short space of time. Lucas Perez could potentially feature in his place in both matches, and he will now be given the opportunity to prove himself in his place. Perez is a decent striker, but he may be able to offer West Ham something different to what they have offered already.
