West Ham United have seen a £26.7million bid for Celta Vigo forward rejected, according to Spanish journalist Victor Lopez.
Lopez, who works for Radio Galega, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday evening that the La Liga club were instead demanding £35.6million for the Uruguay international.
He further reported that the two clubs remained in negotiations and hoped to conclude proceedings this week.
Contámolo no @GALICIANGOLES

Gomez scored 18 goals in all competitions last season and played at the World Cup for Uruguay, who made the quarter-finals.
OPINION
West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is clearly on a mission to sign a new striker before the season begins, with Andy Carroll having suffered another setback which is set to put him out for several months. Signing Gomez would be a huge move for the Hammers, who would be securing a seriously talented young striker who is destined for big things. The Uruguay international is still just 21 years old and his potential is endless, and West Ham could have a serious player on their hands should they complete the move. Gomez scored 18 goals in 39 appearances for Celta last season, and was selected in the Uruguay squad for the World Cup. In terms of the move actually happening however, you would think it is quite unlikely. The club are surely running low on funds after a spending spree which has seen them splash out around £90million, so for them to go and spend another £25-35million would be a long shot.
