West Ham United have swiftly rejected several advances from lower league clubs enquiring about taking new signing Xande Silva on loan this summer, according to Claret and Hugh

The Hammers insider website, which is a reliable source for exclusive club information, report that the club were approached by several sides following the jet-heeled forward’s Under-23 debut against Spurs, a game which saw him net a six-minute hat-trick.

Claret and Hugh claim that the Irons issued a straight ‘no’ in response to these enquiries, with the club hoping that Silva will progress quickly enough to challenge for a first-team spot at some point this season.

OPINION

It is not a surprise to hear that West Ham are not entertaining loan bids for Silva, who was identified as a player who could break into the first-team as soon as they bought him this summer. His performance against Spurs, in which he ripped apart the Lilywhites defence with a quick-fire hat-trick, has merely served to confirm the Hammers initial thoughts that he should stay at the club this season. Despite his inexperience in both senior and English football, Silva has provided a brilliant statement of his talents so swiftly following his move, and the Hammers could have a real talent on their hands. His pace and power was on full display against Spurs, who struggled to deal with him in any way, shape or form. In terms of his chances of breaking through into the first-team, that will probably defend on the performances of those ahead of him in the pecking order.
