A section of West Ham United fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight after it was revealed that midfielder Yaya Toure will not be joining the club.
The 35-year-old’s agent, Dimitry Seluk, revealed on his Twitter account that the veteran enforcer had “passed a medical” at a London-based club, but ruled out the possibility of him joining the Hammers in a later tweet.
It's not West Ham, 100%.
Yaya is a champion. The last place is not for him 😃 https://t.co/eDGeI0EvFf— Dimitry Seluk (@dmitriseluk) August 28, 2018
The majority of Irons’ supporters appear to be delighted by the news that the former Premier League winner will not be joining their ranks any time soon, while some were more keen on the idea.
These comments included “I should hope not” and “would make our midfield holding strong.”

OPINION
Based on these tweets, it is clear to conclude that some of the fans are split over whether they would have wanted Yaya Toure at the club. There is no doubting that he was an excellent player for Manchester City, but at the age of 35-years-old, it is safe to say that he is past his best now. It is hard not to agree with those supporters delighted that a move has been ruled out for him, as the Hammers already have a number of central midfielders in their ranks – and he most definitely would not be guaranteed first team football if he did make the move. He has at least one more season left in him, and it will be interesting to see him play at whatever London club – or elsewhere, if his agent is being tricky – he ends up at. However, for now, the majority of West Ham fans can rest easy knowing that he will not be starring for them any time soon.
