West Ham are on the verge of completing their ninth signing of the summer as they close in on a deal for Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi, according to reliable journalist Kaveh Solhekol.

The journalist – who works as a reporter for Sky Sports News – has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Hammers are nearing a £10.7 million deal for the 6″3 (source: Transfermarkt) enforcer, taking their total tally of spending this summer to more than £100 million.

France youth international Moukoudi will follow the likes of Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere and Issa Diop through the doors at the London Stadium once his move from the Ligue One side is finalised.

OPINION

The West Ham summer transfer saga is still rolling on, and it does not look like it has any signs of stopping any time soon with the imminent ninth signing of the summer. The fact that a club like West Ham – where some of the fans showed their outrage at the owners last season because of a lack of signings – has spent over £100 million on players is astonishing. This time last year, that sort of figure would not have been taken lightly, and supporters would have laughed off spending that sort of money. Instead, this year has brought about comments from fans urging the club to spend more on players. Moukoudi is a young player, but he certainly has the potential to thrive at a club going from strength to strength. He may not be first choice due to Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena having already arrived, but he has a bright future in front of him.
