West Ham have agreed a fee of around £5million with Arsenal for striker Lucas Perez who is set to undergo a medical today (Tuesday), according to a ESPN journalist Eduardo Fernandez-Abascal

London-based Fernandez-Abascal, who is assistant editor at ESPN FC, reported on his personal Twitter account that the Gunners forward had agreed a three-year contract with the option of a further year.

It is said that barring any late setback, Perez is set to travel to West Ham for his medical examination today, with the club paying around £5million for his services.

OPINION

It looks like this deal is all but done, barring any late obstacles that may arise. This was a late move by West Ham, but one that has moved relatively quickly since emerging in the media. Perez was initially thought to be keen on a stay at Arsenal under new boss Unai Emery, but the prospect of more first-team football at the London Stadium must have turned his head. The former Deportivo La Coruna man has had a tough time of things in England so far, but a move to new pastures will hopefully see his fortunes change. A record of seven goals in 21 Arsenal appearances suggest he could be an asset for the Irons, who have been on the look out for a new striker for several weeks. The fact that Perez knows the Premier League and won’t have to move from abroad should help him settle in quickly and give West Ham a boost ahead of their season opener against Liverpool on Sunday.
