If West Ham need to bring any more reinforcements in this transfer window, it is the left-back position that needs the most strengthening.

The club currently have Aaron Cresswell operating in that position, and boss Manuel Pellegrini could do with another player in the ranks to provide healthy competition.

One player he must consider is Real Madrid left-back Theo Hernandez.

The Sun have reported that Fulham are planning a loan move for the Champions League winner, and have offered the La Liga side £1.75 million to bring him to Craven Cottage.

However, the Hammers must pounce for the Frenchman in order to provide sufficient cover to Cresswell.

The 20-year-old defender made 23 appearances for Los Blancos under Zinedine Zidane, which is an impressive showing for a player of his age, particularly playing at such a high level.

Nevertheless, this is one of the main reasons why the Irons must swoop for the youngster – the fact that he has had a sufficient amount of experience playing for one of the biggest clubs in Europe should be reason enough to sign him.

Zidane played him for a reason – he even played a part in helping his team on their way to the Champions League trophy, which is an amazing feat at his age.

He can also operate as a left midfielder as well as his main position of a left-back, but that may not be required at West Ham, as they have more than enough midfielders.

Healthy competition for the left-back spot with mainstay Cresswell is just what he needs to become a better player under Pellegrini, and he will have to learn quickly to cope with the demands of the top-flight.

This would be an ambitious move by the Hammers, but one that should pay off in the long term if they were to pull it off right under the noses of the Cottagers.
