West Ham are interested in signing Torino winger Iago Falque, according to Tuttosport.

The Italian newspaper state that the Hammers along with Leicester City, Southampton, Valencia and Sevilla were all keen on signing the 5ft 7in tall (Transfermarkt) right-sided winger.

Tuttosport report that Torino have no intention of selling Falque but that they could consider an offer for him if enough money was bid for his services.

OPINION

Falque had a very impressive 2017/18 campaign for Torino as he scored 14 goals, while assisting 10, so it’s easy to see why the Serie A team are keen to hold on to him. The signing of the 28-year-old winger could be a good move by the Hammers as he does look to be player capable of being an exciting threat for the club. However while he may have been involved with 24 goals for Torino last season, his previous time in England wasn’t exactly glorious. The 28-year-old is a former Tottenham player and only managed to feature 11 times for them during his spell with them. Falque was often loaned out by Spurs, even having a brief spell at the Saints, so it’s hard to tell if he is just unable to flourish in England’s top-flight. It’s worth noting that his time in English football was a few years ago now and he clearly has improved since moving to Italy to play his football. Based on his recent form Falque is worth being checked out by the Hammers but he might prove to be too expensive of an option to sign due to Torino’s desire to keep him.
