A club Insider has poured cold water on the news that West Ham are homing in on a deal for Nice striker Alassane Plea.

The Sun reported that West Ham and Fulham were locked in a £25million race for Plea, with the striker se tto fly in and discuss personal terms with one or both this week.

However, ExWHUemployee, an Insider who has close links to the club and breaks accurate transfer news, has said that while West Ham have watched Plea a few times, a new striker ins’t a priority for manager Manuel Pellegrini.

OPINION:

With clubs due back for pre-season this week, the transfer rumours will pick up pace and this seems to be one that’s been wildly exaggerated – at least as far as West Ham go. If an offer has been made and if Plea is due to fly into a London club for talks, it looks like it might be Fulham. With Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez currently on the books, Pellegrini has options up front. West Ham fans will be hoping that Pellegrini can finally get the best from Hernandez and that he can hold onto Arnautovic. Hernandez has shown what he’s capable of at the World Cup and with Mexico in action against Brazil later on today, he has a huge stage to showcase his talents on. The winning goal against Brazil today could be just what he needs to build his confidence back up after a bruising season under David Moyes.
