West Ham United have enjoyed a promising summer so far under new boss Manuel Pellegrini, securing three new signings which will significantly improve their defence.
Attention must now turn to more advanced positions, with the Hammers needing to streamline their attack as well as bolster their defence.
Striker is not a position of concern for Pellegrini, with several good options to choose from, and it is the wide areas which will need the most focus in the coming weeks.
West Ham have several players who have occupied the wide attacking positions in the last season or so, but few who are out-and-out wingers.
That must be addressed this summer, with the Hammers attack needing more balance than it has seen in recent years.
The club have now been handed a golden chance to sign such a player, and they must not pass it up as Pellegrini looks to bolster his squad further in the coming weeks.
As reported by Tuttomercatoweb, Inter Milan have offered the Hammers the opportunity to sign experienced wide man Antonio Candreva.
The 31-year-old is likely to leave the San Siro in the coming weeks after two seasons with the club, and West Ham could do with a player of his qualities.
Candreva had a quiet season by his standards in 2017/18, but still managed to register eight assists across all competitions for Inter.
West Ham did not have one player who reached that level all season, with Aaron Cresswell the closest on seven.
Candreva’s delivery is of top quality from wide areas, and with players like Marko Arnautovic up front, the Irons could benefit from someone who can provide that kind of service.
The 54-time Italy international is also highly experienced, having played at the top level in Serie A for the vast majority of his career, and that will be another asset for the Hammers as they look to climb the table.
The Hammers can simply not pass up the opportunity to sign such a player, and they must move to take up this rare chance as soon as possible.
