Jack Wilshere is set to become a West Ham player in the next 24-hours with a medical set to take place and a video of the player’s homecoming to emerge, according to a club insider.

ExWHUEmployee, a man on the inside track with regards to the comings and goings at the Irons, revealed the news on Twitter that as long as there were no last-minute hitches, a deal would be confirmed in the next day or so.

The 26-year-old recently became a free agent after turning down a new deal at the Emirates.

Everton were also linked with a move for the midfielder according to the Daily Mail, but that now looks like a suggestion that was wide of the mark.

OPINION:

Wow! What an exciting transfer for West Ham as it is so far proving to be a transfer window whereby the owners and more specifically, David Gold, is living up to his promises he gave on talkSPORT to the Hammers faithful. At the beginning of the summer, the chairman revealed that more would be spent in this window than any gone before. With Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, and a fourth arrival in Jack Wilshere soon to all be in at the club and talk of others to follow, these are certainly exciting times to be involved with the Irons. Of course, the now former Arsenal midfielder has the matter of actually passing the medical to deal with, which given the player’s chequered past may not be a simple formality. But, it’s looking like it will be a matter of hours and not days before a deal goes through in what has been a whirlwind transfer for the ace and will be a huge improvement on their current options in the centre of the park.
