West Ham have a strong interest in Real Betis striker Loren Moron and are willing to pay the £22.3 million release clause to land him, according to a report.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have reported in their print edition (30/7) that the Hammers are keen on snapping up the prolific goal machine, whose value could rise to £35.6 million once the clause is activated.

The Spanish striker tore up the 2017/2018 season with an impressive 24 goals, with seven of them coming in La Liga following his return from a loan spell in Spain’s third division.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at third tier side Betis B, where he bagged 17 goals.

OPINION

If this report is true and West Ham really are interested in Loren Moron, then what a signing he would be. Despite already having Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez operating in the main striker roles, the potential addition of the Spaniard would give them that prolific threat in front of goal that has been lacking a bit recently. His goal tally tells us all we need to know, but it can be argued that most of them came in the third division, which is obviously not as competitive as La Liga. However, based on his statistics, Moron may have no problem taking the step up to the Premier League, especially as scoring a high amount of goals is in his nature. It would be exciting to see him join West Ham and see how he could potentially adjust to the top flight – we just need to wait and see if there is anything in this interest first.
