Some West Ham fans have been reacting with frustration on social media after the club gave an injury update on Andy Carroll and Winston Reid.

The Hammers announced on their official club website that both Reid and Carroll will be out for a minimum of three months after the duo suffered a setback in their recovery.

30-year-old New Zealand international Reid and 29-year-old England international Carroll are both key players at The London Stadium, which has led to fans being upset about their upcoming absence.

One fan called for both players to be sold after their latest injuries.

OPINION

This is a massive blow to West Ham ahead of the new Premier League season. Not only will the club have to look at strengthening their squad quality wise, they now need to replace two of their most important players. Manuel Pellegrini will be disappointed to have lost them both to injury, but shouldn’t be that surprised, considering their recent injury records in the last few years. Particularly Andy Carroll, who just cannot seem to keep fit for a long period of time. It’s a shame because he is a quality player when fully fit and on form, but we just haven’t seen it enough.
