West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass is wanted by Aston Villa, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The outlet claims that Steve Bruce wants to bring Snodgrass, who currently earns £40,000-per-week (Spotrac), back to Villa Park in this transfer window after he spent the season on loan at the Midlands club last season.

The report reveals that the London club have yet to make a decision on the 30-year-old midfielder, but if they do let him leave, the Villians would be the favourites for his signature.

The former Hull City wide player made 43 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side last season, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists.

OPINION

West Ham need to decide what to do with Robert Snodgrass. Another loan wouldn’t be useful to anybody, the player obviously wants some stability after being sent on loan last season and the Hammers could do with selling him to raise more transfer funds after their busy summer. It’s hard to know where he fits into the team amid all the new signings, which indicates that he may well be leaving this summer. He showed excellent form in the Championship for Villa last season, scoring loads of goals and creating even more, so it’s no surprise that Steve Bruce would want to bring him back. Whether they have the funds to offer Manuel Pellegrini’s side any kind of transfer fee is still up in the air, but if the takeover has given them a cash injection, West Ham could be bracing themselves for a meaty transfer bid over the next few days.
