West Ham have seen their interest in Paris Saint-German midfielder Javier Pastore hijacked by Roma, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian news outlet claims that the 28-year-old is set to fly to Italy on Wednesday and is scheduled to undergo a medical with Serie A club Roma on Thursday.

It is understood that they have agreed a £16.2million deal for the Argentinian playmaker with French champions PSG and a move is edging closer.

The report details that West Ham were in discussions with the central midfielder about a move, but appear to have lost out to Roma.

Good move for West Ham?

Pastore certainly would be a high-profile addition for the Hammers this summer and add the creative spark they are crying out for in the midfield.

Manager Manuel Pellegrini could do with some extra creativity, especially after Manuel Lanzini’s injury, and the PSG ace ticks a lot of boxes.

He was directly involved in 11 goals across all competitions last season for them despite not being a regular starter and is technically gifted enough to make an impact in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

West Ham’s interest in Pastore appears to have fizzled out and they look like being beaten to his signature by Roma, who have already agreed a transfer fee and are lining up a medical.
