West Ham are willing to hand Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere a £130,000-a-week four-year contract in order to join them, according to The Sun.
The national newspaper claim that Manuel Pellegrini is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old central midfielder and that the Hammers have informed Wilshere of their desire to build their side around him.
The Sun report that Wilshere, whose contract is set to expire shortly, met with new Gunners boss Unai Emery on Monday and that his current side were only willing to pay him £100,000-a-week in order to keep him.
Good move for West Ham?
Yes and no.
The Wilshere who was able to stay regularly fit in his 2017/18 campaign and make 40 appearances would be welcomed at the London Stadium.
The 26-year-old’s vision and sublime passing ability would be a wonderful addition to the Hammers’ current squad but there still should be worries over his injury record.
If the Hammers hand him such a massive contract, in terms of money and length, then they could have another Andy Carroll situation on their hands.
While Wilshere is clearly talented, Pellegrini shouldn’t approve of a big-money four-year deal being handed to a player with the track record of the current Gunners midfielder.

Likely to happen?
The Sun claim that the Hammers are confident and that Wilshere would prefer to stay in London if he is to leave the Emirates, so there is a chance of him rocking up at the London Stadium shortly.
However the newspaper also states that Emery seeks a second meeting with the 26-year-old and perhaps the Gunners are willing to up their contract offer in order to keep him around.
It seems that if there is any chance of staying at Arsenal than Wilshere will prefer that scenario so this deal won’t go anywhere until it’s made clear that there is absolutely no chance of him staying at the Gunners.
