West Ham must reignite their reported interest in Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin as he would make a difference at the London Stadium.

The Hammers were previously ready to pay £20million to sign the Toffees midfield enforcer in January, according to Sky Sports, and did speak to their Premier League rivals about the player.

However the Merseyside club were unwilling to do business in the winter window as Sky Sports went on to reveal that Toffees had informed the Hammers that they had no intention of selling Schneiderlin as they didn’t want to have less midfield options available to them.

Fast forward a few months and it seems the 28-year-old’s exit from Goodison Park is now likely to happen.

While Sky Sports’ second report on the Toffees stance about keeping Schneiderlin referred to Sam Allardyce not wanting to sell him, he is no longer in charge of the club.

And it seems that according to the Daily Star current Toffees manager Marco Silva has earmarked the midfield enforcer as one of the club’s first-team players that he would be willing to cut from his squad.

The Star claimed that Marseille looked likely to sign Schniederlin due to this but the Hammers must quickly intervene.

Manuel Pellegrini is still in need of strengthening his midfield options as ahead of him arriving at the club there was enough midfielders good enough to be consider first-team options.

David Moyes had to work with a depleted squad in the 2017/18 campaign with him struggling to find capable midfielders to play hence why defender Pablo Zabaleta found himself playing in midfield at times.

Schneiderlin would be a good signing for the club to make as not only is he a midfielder, he is more than capable of having a positive impact on the Hammers’ fortunes next season.

The 28-year-old may have struggle in the first-half of his latest campaign but once Allardyce arrived at the Toffees, the midfielder was showing all the signs that he was back to his best.

Schneiderlin was consistently starting to run the midfield for the Toffees and was putting in the tackles necessary to see the midfield battle won for his side.

Given Silva’s apparent willingness to let the midfielder, who has made 171 Premier League appearances in his career, go then the Hammers must swoop and sign him.

Pellegrini will be able to get him for way less then the £20million the club nearly paid for him in January as clearly he is being seen as surplus to requirements at the Toffees under Silva.
