Some West Ham fans took to social media to share that they weren’t thrilled at the prospect of their club potentially signing Inter Milan winner Antonio Candreva.

The Hammers were contacted by the Italian giants about signing the 31-year-old by Inter Milan, according to Tutto Mercato Web, as Milan thought their winger could interest the Premier League side due to Manuel Pellegrini being without Manuel Lanzini due to injury.

While the report didn’t state whether the Hammers were interested in taking Milan up on their offer, supporters were quick to urge the club not to sign him.

One Hammers supporter on Twitter shared that they thought their club could get a much better deal and a better player elsewhere, while another tweeted even co-owner David Sullivan knows to stay away from this deal.

Forever West Ham has gathered a section of tweets by Hammers supporters about the club being in contact over Candreva:

OPINION

Hammers fans are right to urge their club not to sign Candreva as his best days are not in front of him. The experienced winger, who can also feature as an attacking midfielder, is being offered to the club for a reason and the Hammers must not take the Italian side up on their offer. Candreva appeared 37 times for Milan last season and while some of his performances were decent, it’s hard to see why the Premier League would move to sign someone the wrong side of 30. If Pellegrini is not able to find someone younger, perhaps with Premier League experience to be recruited by the Hammers this summer then signing Candreva makes sense. However the experienced boss should have enough time left to find a player capable of replacing Lanzini.
