West Ham will not look to make signing a new forward a priority unless the situations regarding Marko Arnautovic, Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll change, according to Claret & Hugh.

The popular Hammers news site stated that all three attackers are set to stay at the London Stadium so manager Manuel Pellegrini is prioritising strengthening other areas of his team.

The high-profile boss is keen to improve the positions of right-back, goalkeeper and defensive midfielder as they’re the three key areas of his team that needs improving in the transfer market.

OPINION

It’s interesting that these three Hammers first-teamers could change Pellegrini’s priorities in the transfer window as all of their futures are slightly doubted at the club. Arnautovic looks the most likely to stay even if a team such as Everton, according to The Sun, are planning on making a swoop for him. There’s no way the Hammers will let the powerful forward go as he was the club’s best player in the recently concluded campaign. After scoring 11 goals in 35 outings, there would be uproar if he was depart this summer and it’s hard to imagine the board being keen on that scenario. Aside from the Hammers’ star man, Carroll and Hernandez weren’t guaranteed fixtures of the first-team last season for a variety of reasons and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them depart. If they are both set to stay at the club then the attacking pair need to up their game significantly to be involved.
