Jack Wilshere is desperate to quit Arsenal this summer to join West Ham, according to a renowned club insider.

Ex-WHU Employee, which consistently breaks the biggest Hammers stories and is an excellent source of information, has claimed in a column for West Ham Way that the midfielder, 26, “really wants to join us” but must lower his wage demands in order to do so.

The England international has taken the radical step of removing ‘Arsenal’ from his Twitter and Instagram profiles in recent weeks in a clear sign that he is close to quitting his boyhood club.

Wilshere, who has 3.7million followers on Twitter, is out of contract at the Gunners at the end of the month and is yet to agree an extension.

OPINION

Is Jack about to hit the road? If his Twitter and Instagram profiles are anything to go by, that could soon be the case. Wilshere has been locked in talks with Arsenal for much of the past year about extending a contract that the Telegraph report is worth a basic £110,000-a-week. There is no agreement in sight, even though the Gunners have increased their initial offer. Wilshere has lucrative contract offers elsewhere and it is intriguing that the super-reliable Ex-WHU Employee believes he is desperate to make the short journey from north to east London. Certainly, it would mean no domestic upheaval for the 26-year-old, who has a young family, and it would also give him the opportunity to join a team whose manager Manuel Pellegrini has a long-established reputation for building attacking, possession-based teams. Is the deal likely? Certainly, Wilshere will need to drop his wage demands, even though he is entering his peak years and re-established himself in the Arsenal midfield last season with a series of strong performances.
