West Ham United have launched an enquiry on the availability of Manchester United players, according to a club insider.

ExWHUemployee, who is an established source for reliable insider information, first reported on Twitter that the two clubs had been in talks, but those discussions did not centre around United-linked Hammers star Marko Arnautovic.

When pressed on the talks, Ex then revealed that it was in fact the Irons who had been making the transfer enquiries, although it was not stated which players were the subject of discussions.

OPINION

This is an exciting development for West Ham fans as they wait patiently for the club to make movements in the summer transfer market. Worries about losing Arnautovic will now surely have been eased, although the players history of attempting ambitious moves will undoubtedly mean nerves will remain until the close of the window. Attention will now turn to United themselves, and which players the Hammers could possibly be making enquiries about. Young centre-back Victor Lindelof may be one, with the Sweden international struggling to retain a starting place at Old Trafford during his first season there, and a move may make sense for the enforcer. Juan Mata is another possible target, with the veteran attacker having just one year left on his current deal at United. There have also been rumours about the future of Marcus Rashford, with several clubs said to want him on loan, and the Hammers would also do extremely well to spoil that party and take him for 2018/19.
