West Ham could offer Robert Snodgrass in part-exchange for Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish, according to a club insider.

Ex-WHU Employee, who breaks stories on the Hammers ahead of the mainstream media on his Twitter account, has explained the club have Grealish on their list of summer targets.

Villa have slapped a reported £45million asking price on their prize asset and Ex-WHU Employee explained in a Twitter exchange with a West Ham fan this has “put off” the Premier League club but Snodgrass “could be” a makeweight in a potential deal after his successful 2017-18 loan.

OPINION

Swap and part-exchange deals are all the rage again after the Alexis Sanchez-Henrikh Mkihtaryan transfer brought them back into fashion in the January window. Certainly, it is unlikely Snodgrass will play for West Ham again after he was criticised last season by motormouth directors David Sullivan and Karren Brady. He had a fine campaign on loan at Villa but his value and £40,000-a-week wages (source: Spotrac) mean a permanent deal is difficult given the Midlands giants’ need to comply with financial fair play regulations after they missed out of promotion to the Premier League. Grealish would be an exciting signing for West Ham, given his talent and immense promise. He has much to learn, but his tricks and quick feet made him one of the most exciting players in the Championship in 2017-18. There will be plenty of interested top-flight clubs in signing him, and much will depend on who is willing to make Villa an offer they can’t refuse.
