A move to West Ham for Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Javier Pastore is now looking off the cards amid his high wage demands, according to Sky Sports

The broadcaster claim that the 28-year-old Argentina international is holding out for £190,000-a-week, which is a pay packet the Hammers are unwilling to meet.

Sky report that PSG are keen to strike a deal for the attacking midfielder in an attempt to meet Financial Fair Play, with a deal on the cards at around £17.5million.

It is said that talks are continuing between the two clubs despite this major update in proceedings.

Good move for West Ham?

100%.

Pastore is a world-class operator in his position, and securing a player of his calibre would be a massive statement from the Hammers this summer as they look to rebuild.

The club have had to settle for players at a level lower than Pastore in recent years, but securing the signature of a bona-fide Champions League player would be a huge step forward for the club.

Such a swoop would also likely have a domino effect, with other players surely keen to follow Pastore to the club if the deal does go through.

Forever West Ham rating: 9/10

Likely to happen?

Unfortunately not.

Ever since the Hammers interest was reported this one looked to be a long shot.

PSG are notorious for their elevated wages, and Pastore is no different, leaving the Hammers in an impossible position amid his massive demands.

The low asking price could open the door to a deal, but Pastore will no doubt have to lower his demands even so, which is unlikely to happen.
