Fans have reacted with mostly excitement on Twitter as West Ham step up their pursuit of Lazio forward Felipe Anderson.
It is said that manager Manuel Pellegrini has given the go-ahead for club chiefs to thrash out an agreement for the one-time Brazil international and there is genuine hope a deal can be secured.
Wide forward Anderson has spent the last five years at the Serie A club after joining in 2013 for a fee of around £6.8million from Brazilian club Santos.
He has attracted long-standing interest from Premier League clubs – he was strongly linked to Manchester United in previous windows – and could now get his apparent wish to move to England.
Supporters are shocked that West Ham’s interest is so advanced, with one commenting “holy hell” and another stating that he would be a “great signing” if the club could push it over the line.

If Lazio get €45m off West Ham for Felipe Anderson they’ve played a blinder. Very talented, sometimes spectacular, but just not consistent enough to warrant that sort of outlay #WHUFC
