A section of West Ham fans on social media shared their happiness after reading Manuel Lanzini’s social media post that provided an update on his injury.

The 25-year-old midfielder took to his social media accounts, including his personal Twitter account, to share that he was aiming to recover from his injury in order to be fit enough to play for the Hammers from the start of 2019.

The Daily Mirror previously claimed that Lanzini was set to miss 15 months of action due to a knee injury that he sustained while with Argentina and that he would play no part in the Hammers’ 2018/19 campaign.

One Hammers fan even claimed it was the best bit of news they had heard all week and asked the player to take his time with his recovery in order to be able to come back strong.

OPINION

Supporters are clearly happy and relieved to hear that Lanzini could be seen at the London Stadium in the upcoming season. Several fans took to posting heart emojis upon reading the player’s update and that is no surprise given his ability. The playmaker has consistently dazzled supporters at the London Stadium and was one of a handful of players who could have held their head up high after the club’s 2017/18 campaign. Lanzini put in several decent performances during his 29 outings in latest campaign and it will be interesting to see how Manuel Pellegrini is able to deal with the fantastic player being unavailable. It seems likely that the successful manager will have to dip his toe into the transfer market in order to recruit an attacking midfielder capable of covering for Lanzini’s absence.
