West Ham manager David Moyes has shown his support for defender Declan Rice and the rising star can have a huge future at the London Stadium.

The 19-year-old centre-back is enjoying a great run in the starting XI and helped his side secure their Premier League status for another year after beating Leicester City 2-0 at the weekend.

Hammers boss Moyes singled out the Irishman for special praise after his display and feel he may have been his best for the club.

Rice has now made 29 senior appearances this campaign and hearing the manager wax lyrical about him should give him a huge lift.

“I thought Declan Rice also had his best game as a young player up against the likes of Jamie Vardy, as that’s not an easy job. He did very well,” Moyes said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

Rice has certainly become a full first-team member this year after developing from the academy as a youngster and the sky really is the limit for him.

There is no reason the teenager can’t be one of the first names on the team sheet next season if he keeps his head in check and has plenty of experienced professionals around him to do so.

The ball-playing centre-back has proven that he has an excellent range of passing and his reading of the game too looks on point.

West Ham fans are well aware that at his age the odd error may creep into his game, but it’s difficult to say how good he can become if he continues improving at this rate.
