West Ham United have agreed a deal to sign Fulham flyer Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the 25-year-old is set to sign a long-term contract at the London Stadium when his current deal at Fulham comes to an end in June.

The Mirror report that Fulham held hopes of retaining Fredericks following their promotion to the top-flight, but the jet-heeled wide man has opted to join the Hammers amid interest from Southampton and Crystal Palace.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes.

Fredericks has had a brilliant season for Fulham as they achieved promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs, and the speedster finally looks ready to impress in the top-flight.

The 25-year-old is a right-back much in the mould of Kyle Walker, with his blistering pace allowing him to burst forward dangerously while helping him to recover defensively.

A free transfer makes this one even more enticing for the Hammers, who have had a few issues at right-back this season.

Likely to happen?

This is a move that has been in the works for a while, but Fulham’s promotion was expected to pose problems for West Ham with Fredericks thought to want to remain with the Whites if that happened.

That however does not look to be the case with the Hammers possibly offering Fredericks a massive pay rise to walk away from Craven Cottage and move across London.

Expect this one to be announced in the coming days.
