West Ham certainly need to reinforce their defensive options ahead of next season and adding a couple more centre-backs to the squad would be a wise move.

The Hammers are reportedly eyeing a move for West Brom’s £15million-rated centre-back Craig Dawson, but should ditch those plans to focus on his teammate Ahmed Hegazi.

Hegazi was part of a Baggies team that were relegated from the Premier League this season, but was definitely one of their standout players despite facing the drop.

The 27-year-old defender impressed during his first campaign in English football and has the quality to play at a different top-flight club next year.

He is set to represent Egypt this summer at the World Cup and West Ham must cast their eye over him.

Hegazi is a 6ft 5in man mountain that is dominated in aerial battles and also very capable with the ball at his feet too.

The Egyptian centre-back would definitely help sharpen up the West Ham backline and stiffen competition up for a spot in the starting XI, while he is about to enter the peak years of his career.

The Londoners of course need to sort out their managerial appointment to succeed David Moyes, but Hegazi is certainly a name to bare in mind when the World Cup comes around and plans for the 2018/19 come back around.

They should fork out whatever it takes to prize him away from West Brom, as the no-nonsense defender has too much ability to be in the Championship.
