West Ham’s shortlist of potential candidates to take over at the London Stadium this summer includes Paris Saint-Germain boss Unai Emery and former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, according to Claret and Hugh.

The Hammers news site report that the exciting list is headed up by Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez, with former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, ex-Watford manager Marco Silva and current boss David Moyes rounding off the candidates.

Claret and Hugh claim that the Hammers board are ready to discuss new terms with Moyes, who still remains in pole position for the job, but are ready with other options should talks break down.

The Scot has made it clear in recent days that he needs to reach a common agreement with the board on certain issues before signing a new deal.

OPINION

Moyes may be the board’s favoured candidate to take the job on a long-term basis this summer, but that will most certainly not be the case among most fans. The Scot is not very popular on the terraces at the London Stadium, and many will indeed be hoping for the scheduled talks to break down with the club forced into appointing another boss. The list is certainly an ambitious one from the West Ham board, with Benitez looking likely to stay at Newcastle despite his issues with Mike Ashley. Unai Emery will leave PSG, but whether he would take a job like this is questionable, and the same goes for Thomas Tuchel, who has been out of a job for a while now. Pellegrini is a somewhat more realistic candidate, but the Hammers would still have their work cut out to persuade him to take on the job. Out of the whole list, Silva is the most likely option to want the job, with the former Watford boss desperate for another chance in the Premier League.
