West Ham United are in the hunt to sign AC Milan forward Fabio Borini this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian football site report that Milan will consider an exit for Borini despite the club just turning his loan from Sunderland into a permanent deal for £5.2million.

Calciomercato claim that new West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is showing interest in the former Liverpool forward, with new Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti also in pursuit.

Borini has extensive experience in the Premier League with the Reds, Chelsea and Sunderland, making 111 appearances in the competition during his career so far.

Good move for West Ham?

This is totally dependent on price.

Borini had a decent season for Milan on loan from Sunderland, netting five goals and laying on seven assists in 44 appearances in all competitions.

If West Ham were able to get that productivity out of Borini then a move would make sense at a certain price, with the Italian able to offer a good back-up option to their current attack.

If however, as seems to be the case, Milan hold out for a high price, then the move will not be worth it at all for the Hammers.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Napoli are seriously keen on Borini, with Ancelotti managing the 27-year-old during a short period at Chelsea together.

West Ham’s interest does not seem as intense, and that could see them lose out in the coming weeks.

Borini may also end up staying at the San Siro having had a decent season for the Rossoneri.
