West Ham are interested in Brighton defender Connor Goldson, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the 25-year-old is on the Hammers radar and that he is still highly-rated despite playing a fringe role at the Amex Stadium this season.

It is understood that Scottish giants Rangers have seen a £1.5million bid rejected by Brighton for the centre-back, but stye could step up their pursuit with a £2million attempt.

The report details that the 6ft 3in colossus is a lifeline Liverpool supporter and the presence of the next Gers manager Steven Gerrard could play a major role.

Good move for West Ham?

Goldson has been unfortunate to play a bit-part role this season for Brighton and he still only has three Premier League games under his belt during his career.

The Englishman is a powerful defender that is good in the air, but it would be a considerable step up if he were to join the Hammers.

West Ham need some considerable improvements made to their backline over the summer and should be eyeing defenders with far more experience.

Forever West Ham rating: 3/10

Likely to happen?

Goldson seems a very unlikely West Ham signing this window and a switch to Rangers to join up with Rangers definitely appears to be on the cards.
