West Ham’s new manager Manuel Pellegrini does not want to sign Yaya Toure this summer, according to a club insider.

Twitter account ExWHUemployee, which is established as an excellent source of Hammers information, claims that Pellegrini is not looking to bring in the 35-year-old to the London Stadium.

Midfield destroyer Toure previously worked with Pellegrini at Man City and will be a free agent this summer when his contract expires at the Etihad Stadium.

The Telegraph had reported that the Ivory Coast legend could allow the 64-year-old manager through the entrance doors at West Ham.

However, the latest insider report suggests that the central midfielder is not on their radar and Pellegrini is set to add younger players with pace this summer.

Statistics site Spotrac claims that Toure has been on a mega £220,000-a-week contract with Man City and it remains to be seen where he will end up.

Good move for West Ham?

Pellegrini’s confirmed appointment on Tuesday morning has certainly created a buzz around West Ham and most fans appear to be on board with it.

Toure is a player that won a Premier League title under Pellegrini and his experience in the dressing room would be huge.

However, fair play to the Chilean manager if he intends to bring in a new wave of young exciting players to compliment the already existing senior players at the club.

Likely to happen?

Toure’s link to West Ham is a fairly obvious one to make, but it now seems like they will not be trying to pick up the free agent this summer and supporters can begin to get excited about Pellegrini’s new plans.
