Crystal Palace have stepped up their interest in signing West Ham speedster Michail Antonio, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper claims that the Premier League outfit have “made a move” to sign the 28-year-old attacker, who is renowned for his blistering pace and athleticism.

It is understood that Roy Hodson’s side have wasted no time in the summer window and want to wrap up a quick deal to complete some early business.

The report details that the Hammers could place a high price tag on the English wide man, but his future is still up in the air as the club prioritises finding a successor to David Moyes as manager.

The Sun previously reported reported that Palace were lining up a move for Antonio this summer and it seems like that has now intensified since the opening of the summer window.

Good move for West Ham?

Antonio has endured a frustrating injury-hit season by making just 22 appearances in all competitions, managing one goal and one assist.

However, he will be a key first teamer next year if he stays full fit and they should avoid selling him to a direct Premier League rival.

He has the technical ability and also power to be a force in the Premier League, while he should still harbour hopes of representing England at senior level one day.

Forever West Ham rating: 3/10

Likely to happen?

Antonio’s future is very much undecided right now amid Palace’s pursuit, but for now the managerial appointment is a priority and the right-winger is still under contract at the London Stadium until 2021.
