West Ham United have announced that David Moyes will not continue as manager after the end of his contract with the club, and fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news.
As confirmed on the club’s official website, Moyes has left the club following the end of his contract at the London Stadium, with the Irons now looking for a ‘high-calibre figure’ to take the club forward.
It is stated that when Moyes was appointed in November he was given the sole aim of keeping the club in the Premier League, which he achieved by leading them to a 13th-place finish.
The statement also confirmed that Moyes’ assistants Alan Irvine, Stuart Pearce and Billy McKinlay have also departed the club with immediate effect.
Chairman David Sullivan goes on to thank Moyes and his team for the job they have done, before saying that the club feel it is the right time to move in a different direction.
Reports suggest that there are several big names in the frame for the Hammers job, with Rafa Benitez, Unai Emery, Manuel Pellegrini and Paulo Fonseca seemingly the main candidates.
Fans have now taken to Twitter to react to Moyes’ exit, with many believing this was the right decision from the club as they look to push on next term.

Leaves with a 25% win rate, lowest in our history. For all those saying he did a good job…. if a good job is scrapping by why other teams fail, then yeah he did a good job! pic.twitter.com/o1JgwvmeSL

Don't mess this up. Time to really invest in the best possible. No more wheeler dealer, bargain recruits. hire a commited person, not someone who sees our club as a ladder to the next one.
