West Ham are ready to allow four first-team players to leave the club this summer amid the imminent arrival of new boss Manuel Pellegrini, according to The Times

The newspaper claim that the club are willing to field offers for Andy Carroll, Sam Byram, Edimilson Fernandes and Jordan Hugill in an attempt to bolster the Chilean’s transfer budget.

The Times report that the Hammers are poised to appoint the 64-year-old on a three-year deal worth £6million in basic salary, with the announcement expected to come within 48 hours.

Carroll, who according to the Mirror earns £100,000-a-week, is the leading name on the list to be axed in the coming weeks after five years in east London.

OPINION

In all honesty, these are four names that fans would have expected to exit the club this summer. Byram has failed to get going at all since his move from Leeds in 2016, with injuries plaguing the right-back’s progress. Fernandes is a player who has shown glimpses of brilliance during his time at the club, but the Switzerland international is far too inconsistent to make any real impact. Hugill is a strange one, with the big striker only bought in January from Preston. The 25-year-old has hardly been given a chance at the London Stadium, but looks to be on his way out regardless. It is possible that the club have realised he is not up to Premier League standard. Carroll is the biggest name on the list but one that has been expected to leave West Ham for a while. His injury problems are too severe, and the club are just bleeding money into his extortionate wages.
