West Ham could attempt to loan Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper claims that the Hammers may attempt to bring the highly-rated 17-year-old on loan to the London Stadium during the summer transfer window.

The Daily Mirror has also reported that Manuel Pellegrini has agreed terms to become the next West Ham manager on a £7million-a-year deal and it appears he is prepared to do business with his former employees Man City.

Good move for West Ham?

Foden is one of the best young talents in England and bringing him to the club, albeit on a short-term basis, would be an extremely good move.

The teenager has managed to break into Man City’s first team this season in a very competitive squad and featured 10 times at senior level, including three appearances in the Champions League.

He is a 5ft 7in central midfielder that is diminutive in stature, but is a very talented footballer that can help control matches.

Foden is a pass master that needs more regular game time to continue his development and a controlling figure like is could be a revelation for a new-look Hammers side under Pellegrini.

Likely to happen?

Links to Man City stars are inevitable for West Ham following Pellegrini’s imminent arrival and it remains to be seen whether a Foden swoop really is a possibility.

Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the rising star at the Etihad Stadium and it’s unclear whether he would allow him to play his football elsewhere next season.
