West Ham defender James Collins could still be at the London Stadium next season, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news site claims that the ‘Ginger Pele’ may still be with the club next season, with his fate lying in the hands of a new manager.

It is understood that the new boss will determine whether he stays at the club, despite the fact he has been sent an email confirming that his contract expires in the summer and that he will become a free agent.

There is a belief with supporters that the Welshman already has one foot out of the door, but he could be given a potential reprieve by a new manager.

The Times reports that ex-Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is confident of becoming the next West Ham manager and that he is set for talks with chairman David Sullivan on Sunday.

Good move for West Ham?

West Ham should certainly look to keep Collins at the club and he could play a squad role in the 2018/19 season if asked by the next manager.

He is a massive fan favourite and proved during his 16 senior appearances this campaign that he remains a reliable centre-back, despite being a fringe figure under David Moyes.

Collins is no longer a regular starter at the London Stadium, but his experience and know-how can definitely still prove useful in the dressing room, especially for rising star Declan Rice in the heart of defence.

Likely to happen?

As it stands Collins’ future at West Ham is coming to an end and fans are bitter that he has been given such a poor send off.

However, a perfect way to get supporters on side for any new manager would be to hand the defender a fresh deal
