West Ham’s quest for Premier League safety will continue for another week after losing to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, leaving the Hammers six points clear with four matches to play.

David Moyes’ side entered the game in decent form, having beaten Southampton and holding both Swansea and Chelsea to draws, and it seemed that further points could be secured when Marko Arnautovic equalised against the Gunners.

However, a mistake from Declan Rice saw Aaron Ramsey’s cross bounce into the net and Alexandre Lacazette netted twice to hand the hosts an emphatic 4-1 victory- and the Hammers goalscorer has now criticised his side for collapsing.

Quoted by The London Evening Standardthe Austria international said:

“Until 80 minutes, we played some very good stuff and had good chances. In the last 10 minutes, we just went over and sometimes this happens against the top teams.”

“Against them, we know they go to the end but the second goal was an individual mistake and after that, we needed to stay organised. We couldn’t do that and we conceded two more and it got away from us.”

West Ham face Manchester City this weekend before finishing the season with clashes against Leicester City, Manchester United and Everton.
